Village," Destin hosts the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo, October 1-31. Famous for
twenty-four miles of dazzling sugar white sands, brilliant emerald green waters,
incomparable fishing and the largest charter boat fleet in Florida, Destin and Fort Walton
Beach welcomes anglers and onlookers during the fall season when the fishing is rich, yet

Fishing Rodeo presents more than $100,000 in prizes and flaunts giant dock parties. More
than 35,000 eager anglers from the world-over comb inshore, offshore, bays and bayous in
fierce competition for fresh and saltwater fish, such as king mackerel, white marlin,
amberjack, cobia and speckled trout. A grand prize of $3,000 awarded for the largest king
mackerel and $2,000 and $1,000 for second and third prize winners, plus other prizes. An
additional temptation, offered by AmSouth Bank, is a $2,000 U.S. savings bond to the
contestants that have the largest record-breaking fish in a variety of categories.
For anglers who fish aboard boats registered in the Rodeo, there is no fee to fish the
tournament.
